LVTP 7 scratch Galoob 1/50

Il y a quelques jours, je vous ai présenté une modif en scratch d'un jouet Galoob ici: AAVP7A1 Galoob (modif) . La modification consitait essentiellement à améliorer le train de roulement et à retirer l'affreux lance-fléchette. Mais on peut aller plus loin en transformant cet AAVP7A1 en son prédécesseur, le LVTP7.

Le LVTP7 est un véhicule américain d'assaut amphibie, il fut utilisé par le corps des Marines, par l'armée argentine pendant la guerre des Malouines et est toujours en service dans l'armée italienne (entre autres).

J'ai repris les mêmes modifications que pour l'AAVP7A1 à savoir:

- détail des roues et des chenilles

- retrait du lance-flechettes

- modification des sièges à l'intérieur

- peinture d'un camouflage (US Marines Corps)

Pour le transformer en LVTP7, il faut:

- modifier la face avant: retait des phares, ajout d'une plaque percée au niveau des phares et bouchage des creux au mastic.

- modification de la tourelle: en ne conservant que le tourelleau original, on obtient un tourelle très proche de la réalité, il suffit d'y ajout un tube métallique pour la mitrailleuse.

Un modéliste plus exigeant pourra recréer en scratch une tourelle plus réaliste et modifier la trappe dorsale pour qu'elle s'ouvre en 2 parties et non pas en une seule comme dans ce modèle

Bref, une modification facile à réaliser si l'on parvient à se procurer le jouet de base.

A few days ago, I presented a scratch modification of a Galoob toy here: AAVP7A1 Galoob (modif) . The modification was mainly to enhance the wheels and tracks and to remove the ugly arrow launcher. But you can go further to transform this AAVP7A1 in a former version: the LVTP7.

LVTP7 is an american amphibious assault vehicle, it was used by USMC, argentine army during Falklands War and is still used by Italy and other countries.

For this model, I did the same modifications as AAVP7A1:

- detailing wheels and tracks

- removing the arrow launcher

- detailing the seats inside the vehicle

- painting a US Marine Corps camouflage.

For transforming in in a LVTP7, you need to:

- rebuilt the front part by removing the headlights and place a perforated sheet and fill the gaps with mastic.

- modify the turret: I used the upper part of the AAVP7A1 turret that look almost like the LVTP7 turret, I just added a metal wire to make the machine gun.

If you want to do more, you could also entirely build the turret from scratch and modify the top door so that it open in 2 parts instead of 1.

This is an easy modification to do if you can found one of those toys (try flea markets !).
